The entire GOP playbook seems to be gaslighting, obfuscation and cruelty — so it’s only fitting for our pal Scott Walker to make a Twitter post checking two of those boxes.
It’s innocent enough from the outset: the former Wisconsin governor went to San Giorgio Pizzeria Napoletana with his family. That’s great! The restaurant is located in downtown Milwaukee and it’s more important than ever to support local businesses. But something about the photo looked… familiar.

Call me crazy, but I feel like we’ve been here before. Like, about 14 months ago.

As many on the Bird Website were quick to point out, Walker has either figured out the mysteries of time travel (highly unlikely but this is a very weird year) or is just lazy. The general consensus seems to be the latter.
An investigation: is this a year old photo of a pizza?
After minutes of research, I conclude… It is.

In his defense — a phrase that made me shudder in this context — Scott Walker did later admit to using an old photo. However, it’s unlikely he’d have said anything had he not been collectively dunked on by the internet. But is there any more perfect way to describe Republican politics in 2020 than repurposing things that went bad long ago, lying about them, and then getting publicly humiliated over it?
Anyway, here’s my humble contribution to the pile-on.
